„Georgian cultural decade-1937” took the place at The union of Tbilisi Municipal Museums- Vakhtang Chabukiani memorial house-museum. The lecture was the part of the big project “Georgian culture and 20th century”. Anano Samsonadze-the doctor of Art History, associated professor, dancer and choreographer discussed the goals of Soviet period, the importance Georgian culture in the1937s. The mediator of the evening informed the audience about cultural changes during the 1937s, how the repertoires of the concert. Unrevealed facts of Lavrenti Beria- Soviet politician, the chief of the Soviet security and secret police tried to disclaim professional female players (he called them “nine black ravens) over the beautiful ones and how Joseph Stalin conjectured his intentions.
The edition theme of the discussion was the story of how Iliko Sukhishvili – the famous Georgian folk dancer asked Stalin as a gift and what was the real intentions of it.

The project “Vakhtang Chabukiani and XX century” is the subproject of a big project “Culture and XX Century” which is divided into two parts. The first part is the lecture cycle holding 19:00 every Thursday at Vakhtang Chabukiani Memorial House-Museum. The second part includes the upcoming conference “Vakhtang Chabukiani and XX century”, which involves professors and researchers from the different art field.
