Any person or private entity can become a donor to the Union of Tbilisi Municipal Museums, if only donation does not affect the independence of the organization’s activities, contradict with its principles or imperil the organization’s reputation.

The aim of the Union is to combine traditional museum activities and educational aspect, which is focused on sharing knowledge for each person. Contemporary museums must broaden their horizons and make a visitor a priority in line with the collection – this is achievable only through the involvement and participation in the process of each guest. Activities of the Union, in addition to the maintenance of stock resources of house-museums for the purpose of preservation and promotion of memorialized persons, also cover expansion of museum collections and transformation of historical context into educational resources.

In 1870-80s, different types of charitable societies were opened in Georgia, which provided great help to the society and not only in terms of physical survival through material assistance but through provision of access to education.
