In The Union of Museums – Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum was started full rehabilitation works by Tbilisi City Hall and Tbilisi Development Fund. In this Museum there is protected various materials related to Ilia Chavchavadze life and work: memorial objects, private archives, different additions of his works, also literature dedicated to his work and life: scientific works, monographs, articles, essays, documentary and photo materials and more.. The rehabilitation of the museum will be completed in 2018.
Ilia Chavchavadze was lived with his wife in Tbilisi, Iv. Javakhishvili ave. N7, in his sister Elisabed Chavchavadze-Saginashvili house 1888-1901. This house is connected with Ilia Chavchavdze public and political work and life. Also in this house was house-printing of “Iveria”.
“This is a historical meaning event, after quite a long time, Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum will be restored by the rules of cultural heritage, one of the most important places for our city and country…” – said Mayor of Tbilisi, David Narmania, who visited the rehabilitation works with Giorgi Baidashvili, Director of Tbilisi Development Fund on 22 May.
