On March 29, 2024, representatives from the BP Georgia office, including Eter Kvirikashvili, leader of BP’s social investment programs in Georgia, and Irina Khantadze, executive director of the consulting and training center CTC, visited the Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum of Tbilisi Museums.
During the visit, Nini Sanadiradze, General Director of the Tbilisi Museums Association, briefed the invited guests on the projects implemented by BP within the social investment program “More Innovations and Public Involvement in the Tbilisi Museums Association” at the Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum.
As part of this program, the Union of Museums of Tbilisi – Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum introduced a system of solar panels. This marks the first time in Transcaucasia that a museum has switched to a natural energy source, utilizing solar energy. This initiative aligns with one of the main goals of sustainable development outlined by the United Nations, aiming to reduce the negative impact on the environment, promote green energy, and foster environmental care.
Additionally, the invited guests were introduced to significant facts and events related to the museum through a system of bilingual modern, international standard audio guides. This service, also introduced within the framework of the program, allows visitors to conduct museum tours individually in their preferred language.
Furthermore, the guests toured another crucial innovation implemented as part of the program – the scientific research laboratory of restoration and conservation within the structural unit of the Tbilisi Museums Association. This laboratory provides the association with the opportunity to work according to modern standards and expand its activities in terms of restoration and conservation of cultural heritage.
As part of the project’s efforts to expand the audience of the Tbilisi Museums Association, ten informational and educational videos were prepared and distributed on relevant platforms to promote the activities of the association, attracting visitors and online followers alike.
The project “More Innovations and Public Involvement in the Tbilisi Museums Union” funded by BP, was executed in collaboration with the Consultation and Training Center (CTC) in partnership with the Tbilisi Museums Union. Its overarching goal is to support the union of Tbilisi museums in introducing innovations that will facilitate audience expansion, develop educational services, and ensure better protection of exhibits.
