The conservation and restoration scientific-research laboratory was opened in 2020 in Tbilisi Museums Union based at Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum.
Taking into account the international norms and professional ethic, the laboratory provides conservation and restoration of cultural and historical importance objects, epochal items preserved in the collections of the Tbilisi Museums Union with giving a new life to the artefacts by preserving their authentic appearance.
The laboratory also conducts research into the causes of damage, aging and preventive conservation of the objects.
Since the establishment of the laboratory, paintings, graphic works, posters, rare books and memorial items have been restored and conserved.
