The conservation and restoration scientific research laboratory was opened in 2020 in the Tbilisi Museums Union – Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum.
Taking into account international standards and professional guidelines, the laboratory specializes in conserving and restoring culturally and historically significant objects and epochal items housed in the Union’s collections. This process ensures the artifacts’ longevity while maintaining their authentic appearance.
The laboratory also conducts research to understand the reasons behind object damage, and preventive conservation measures. Since its inception, the laboratory has restored and conserved various items within the collections, including paintings, graphic works, posters, rare books, and memorial pieces.
