Through collaboration with the Tbilisi State Conservatory, the Tbilisi Museums Union has published a comprehensive book on the only Georgian Mass found in the Zakaria Paliashvili Memorial House Museum. This publication combines the preserved Georgian Mass with multifaceted research surrounding it. The book was presented on May 21 at the Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Tbilisi as part of International Museums Week.
The book features a wealth of photographic content and significant scholarly contributions that shed light on the extraordinary events in the life of the renowned composer, offering insights into his creative process and worldview.
In addition to the exploration of the great composer’s work, the book is significant in understanding the multifaceted nature and tolerance of Georgian culture. It is impossible to comprehensively study Georgian history without realizing the contributions of Catholics in Georgia.
The publication is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Zakaria Paliashvili, the eminent Georgian composer, conductor, and public figure, acknowledged by UNESCO in its list of culturally significant events for 2020-2021.
