On January 29, a presentation of the new research publication of the Union of Tbilisi Museums “Life and Work of Merab Kostava” was held at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.
“Life and Work of Merab Kostava” is one of the most important and large-scale research publications in the history of the Union of Tbilisi Museums, dedicated to the life and work of the national hero – Merab Kostava.
The publication consists of personal letters, photographs and various archival documents, which were not known to the wide audience.
The material used in the book are from the funds of the Merab Kostava Memorial House-Museum of the Union of Tbilisi Museums, the National Archives of Georgia and the State Security Service of Georgia.
It should be noted that this is the first time when such a large-scale work on Merab Kostava is published. The art-designer Nino Andriashvili provided the design of the bilingual book (Georgian and English).
The book offers its readers the articles by Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, Tsitsino Maghlaperidze, Rusudan Kutateladze, Manana Tabidze, Nini Sanadiradze together with other very important, previously unknown materials.
The publication aims to once again highlight the significance of Merab Kostava’s life and work and to recall the important legacy of the recent history that is preserved in the funds of the Museum and the archives.
