The Tbilisi Museums Union – Zakaria Paliashvili Memorial House Museum hosted an evening commemorating the 100th anniversary of conductor Vakhtang Paliashvili, recipient of the Zakaria Paliashvili Award, on October 8.

Vakhtang Paliashvili significantly promoted Georgian musical culture locally and internationally, enriching Zakaria Paliashvili’s legacy. Vakhtang Paliashvili’s name is associated with the staging of Zakaria Paliashvili’s operas “Daisy” and “Absalom and Eter”.

Tbilisi State Conservatory Professor Givi Munjishvili led the commemorative event. Musicologists Eldar Getsadze, and Liana Kalmakhelidze, along with Medea Kelbakiani, author of the monograph “Vakhtang Paliashvili,” shared insights into the legacy of the conductor.

The gathering was graced with performances by students from the Tbilisi State Conservatory and soloists from the Tbilisi State Opera.
