Each year the International Council of Museums (ICOM) at May 18 holding International Museums Day. For the reason, the theme chosen for International Museum Day 2019 is “Museums as Cultural Hubs: The future of tradition.” Due to the day, the renovating Kote and Soso Tsereteli Memorial House-Museum was opened. Kote Tsereteli was the famous Georgian semioticist, a linguist and trustful person of Soviet party, while his son was the talented painter, who was the member of the scandalous “Airplane Deed” in the 1980s. The museum is dedicated to a famous father and son.
The museum visited Salome Zurabishvili- The president of Georgia, Irakli Grilava-the head of the culture, education, and sports department at Tbilisi City Hall, Marika Darchia- deputy of Tbilisi City Assembly, Rima Beradze-Chugureti Majoritarian MP at Tbilisi city Assembly, Tsira Shalashvili-head of the management and planning department of culture Facilities at Tbilisi City Hall, Inga Kharaia- chair at ICOM Georgia.
The Union of Tbilisi Municipal Museums from 18 till 25th of May due to the day hosting “Museums Days” with different performances, presentations, and other activities. The goal of the “Museums Days” is to bring the principal massage to the audience- “Museums are the main sources of cultural exchanges and development.
