On May 18, 2018, Archil (Bacho) Tsanava bestowed the Tbilisi Museums Union – Dolls and Toys Museum with a distinctive creation named “Interrupted Song.” Bacho Tsanava, who began sculpting dolls at the age of 10, honed his puppetry skills in Italy. The dolls crafted by Tsanava are housed in both the State Museum of Theater, Music, Cinema, and Choreography of Georgia and the Batumi Museums.
The “Interrupted Song” doll was created in 2017 for the International Museum Day exhibition titled “Museums and Contested Histories: The Museum Speaks of the Unspeakable.” This exhibition took place within the exhibition area of the Tbilisi Museums Union – Dolls and Toys Museum, showcasing approximately 30 artists’ creations.
The “Interrupted Song” doll is crafted from various materials. According to its creator, Archil Bacho Tsanava, the doll embodies emotions, symbolized by its holding of a wooden Fanduri and its gaze directed towards the one who interrupted the song. This interaction led to the naming of the doll as “Interrupted Song.” Initially centered around Piero’s character, the creative process evolved breathing emotional life into the doll.
