Did you know that Georgian song has been sent into space and Georgian polyphony is acknowledged as a treasure of the world’s cultural heritage?
With the English-language educational program “History of Georgian Music” offered at Zakaria Paliashvili Memorial House Museum you will get acquainted with the path that Georgian music has passed up to the present day, how the ancient hymns reached us, what is romance and how opera-house was established in Tbilisi.
Participants of the program can enjoy an excursion to the museum, where, with the use of visual and audio materials, they will receive information about:
✥ Georgian musical art of different epochs;
✥ An ancient musical instrument that was played thousands of years ago;
✥ The first collection of Georgian hymns, in which musical signs – neumes – were used;
✥ Why was Tbilisi called the “City of Opera”?
At the end of the program, participants will perform a Georgian song themselves.
