The Tbilisi Museums Union continues its tradition of participating in the International Museums Night, inviting everyone on May 18 to the Ilia Chavchavadze Literary Memorial Museum.

The event, marking the International Night of Museums, will commence at 9:00 PM. The museum’s entrance will be unlocked, welcoming all interested individuals to receive a stunning scroll inscribed with “Phrases to the Future.” This scroll will empower visitors to engage actively by sharing specific messages and collectively vocalizing significant statements from the memorialized individuals of the Union. This interactive experience allows participants to contribute and resonate with the meaningful messages from the past, uniting voices for an impactful moment.

Nighttime visitors at the Ilia Chavchavadze Literary Memorial Museum will explore this remarkable 19th-century house. The museum offers pleasant musical performances and other engaging activities awaiting visitors in the museum’s courtyard.

The first “Museums Night” debuted in 1997 in Berlin, setting the stage for similar events to become traditions in 120 European cities. The French Ministry of Culture and Communications initiated the “European Night of Museums” in 2005. Since 2011, over 4,000 museums across 40 European countries have united in this international museum initiative organized collaboratively by the Council of Europe, UNESCO, and ICOM (International Council of Museums). Events like these use museums’ resources to expand their audience and promote the crucial role museums play, spotlighting their collections and overall contributions to culture and education.
