When did people first decided to make a toy?
Toys were made since the very beginning of the human history and each nation made dolls in their own characteristic manner: ancient Egyptians made wooden dolls, Japanese – paper toys, Germans – ceramic doll, etc.
Georgian “Dedopala” (dolly) was widely used around Georgia for witchcraft and ritual worship.
The word “Dedopala” in the Georgian Language Explanatory Dictionary is defined as a toy imitating a child or a human in general.

Tbilisi Dolls and Toys Museum of the Union of Tbilisi Museums offers the audience an educational program – “History of Dolls”.
Participants of the educational program, on the basis of the various photo and audio materials, will get familiar with:
✥ Interesting facts about ancient dolls discovered by archaeologists,
✥ History of dolls from different countries,
✥ History of the Georgian ethnographic “Dedopala”,
✥ What the profession of puppeteer is.
✥ At the end of the program, the participants will make their own “Dedopala”.
Participation in the program is possible both as a group and individually.
