Mzia Nadirashvili – 40 years at the museum

The Union of Tbilisi Museums congratulates Mrs. Mzia Nadiradze her birthday and wish her long live, health and continue the important activities she was doing during dozens of year. Mrs. Mzia Nadiradze was born in January 5, 1934.

She was very young when began working in culture field on different positions. Since 1977 she has worked on a position of a director of Ilia Chavchavadze Tbilisi House-Museum. She turned the museum into the most important cultural center. Under her leadership Ilia Chavchavadze Museum received memorial meaning. It’s important to admit that in 80th of XX century traditional events “On Thursdays” got scientific and research meaning. Mrs. Mzia initiated to activate scientific board involved Georgian scientists and researchers; in 1987, get two stores house in 7, Ivane Javakhishvili Str. for the Museum. This is the house where Ilia Chavchavadze lived with his wife and sister Elisabeth Saginashvili from 1889-1901. Here was the print shop and office of newspaper “Iveria”. In 1987, status and name of the Museum were changed. Now, in Tbilisi Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum immortalizes name of Ilia Chavchavadze. It is a complex of Museums with permanent expositions, which are very interesting and exciting for visitors. The expositions show Ilia Chavchavadze’s life and career as well as his interesting and rich personality. Mrs. Mzia is an author of several scientific essays and articles on problems of museum operation; for those she was awarded the highest prize of Georgian journalistic Gold Wing, Medal of Honor of Georgian culture, she was named the best professional of the year various times, etc.

For a great contribution to Museum activities Mzia Nadiradze was awarded Medal of Honor, was elected an honorary citizen of Tbilisi.

Mrs. Mzia still with great enthusiasm serves her favorite profession and contributes to fulfill mission and goals of The Union of Tbilisi Museums.
