On 20th September in The Union of Tbilisi Museums –Vakhtang Chabukiani Memorial House-Museum was held exhibition ,,Japan and Georgian Ballet’’. At the opening of the exhibition were attended Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia Mr. Tadaharu UEHARA and Nino Ananiashvili artistic director at Z. Paliashvili’s TbiIisi Opera and Ballet Theater.
Georgia and Japan have a long history of cooperation in ballet art. The exhibition materials presented in the exhibition are related to the 1973, masterpieces for improving men’s classical dance conducted by Vakhtang Chabukiani (1910-1992) with Peter Tchaikovsky’s Tokyo Ballet group.
The exhibition is includes: Vakhtang Chabukiani’s photo materials depicting pedagogic work in Japan, letters of invitation and thanksgiving. New Year greeting cards received from Japan.
The way of cooperation between the Ballet Field of the two countries, started by Vakhtang Chabukiani, continues today. On the opening day of the exhibition, the audience met Teachers of Vakhtang Chabukiani State Ballet Art State School: Ketevan Motsonelidze, Larisa Chkhikvishvili and their students who were talked and presented photo and video materials about a joint project of “V. Chabukiani Tbilisi Ballet Art State School” and “Tokyo International Ballet School”.
